Capstone Project Introduction

This semester, for my Capstone project, I will be attempting to create a hand-drawn animated short. My goals for this project are:

1. To complete an animation with a duration of at least three minutes.
2. To hone my ability to organize a production.
3. To hone my ability to storyboard and produce a visually appealing short.
4. To hone my ability to edit video and audio together.

My estimated process will be: Solidifying a story, storyboarding and scheduling, drawing frames, scanning frames into the computer, editing the frames together to create the animation, and adding sound and music. I am very aware that hand-drawn animation takes a lot of time, and for my Capstone project I only have a few short months, so I am not sure if I will be able to color the animation, or even if I will be able to finish it in time. None the less, I think it will be a great opportunity and learning experience.

I'm very excited for this project because animation is a big love of mine, especially hand-drawn; and I find it a bit sad that the art of hand-drawn animation has been fading from use in recent years.
